About Me

I’m Lia Declan, a queer fiction writer and writing instructor. My work focuses on identity, belonging, and how people find meaning in ordinary life. I write fiction novels, essays, short fiction, and reflections on writing itself.

I live openly as a queer woman and author, and I write about that experience with honesty and respect. My goal is not to preach or persuade but to share what it feels like to live as myself, but only if asked. My beliefs, and indeed, my self-image, are not dictated by politics or opinion. I teach creative writing skills, offer outlining services, and occasionally, dry, sarcastic wit.

On this site, you’ll find essays about writing, updates from the shop, and thoughts on how stories help us understand each other.

If you enjoy what you read, you can follow my newsletter or stop by the shop to say hello.

I’m Lia,

Welcome to the messy corner of my mind.
This website functions as a file cabinet for my work. It holds published novels, essays, and working notes. It is a tool, not a performance. I use this site to document my writing process and provide a record for other writers.
